Tips, Tricks & Advances in Removable Prosthetics

Removable prosthetics can be rewarding as well as a frustrating aspect of practice. Many practitioners feel removable prosthetics is a fading area of dental practice. But with our current economy dentures are becoming a more in demand treatment option. Additionally, dental implants have not replaced our patients need for removable prosthetics. Implants are frequently being used to stabilize dentures and assist in retention.

“Broadening how you practice dentistry: Easier techniques for better results”

An all day lecture covering a broad scope of topics for the general dentist or specialist. Topics include: Soft Tissue Management for restorative treatment, Direct Resin Restorations: Achieving complex results with simple techniques, Identifying and Correction of Impression Errors, Provisional Restorations: Techniques for easier temporaries, Understanding adhesive dentistry and incorporating new advances in materials.

An all day lecture covering a broad scope of topics for the general dentist or specialist.

Lecture highlights:

  1. Soft Tissue Management for restorative treatment

Discussion of electrosurgery, its principles and practices. Applications for gingivectomy, crown lengthening, esthetic recontouring of soft tissue, implant uncovery and other restorative uses.

  2. Endodontics: Achieving better results through bonded obturation

Discussion of Endodontic treatment from diagnosis, through isolation, access, irrigation, instrumentation and obturation. Additionally, will discuss the importance of coronal leakage and how to provide better long term results.

  3. Provisional Restorations: Techniques for easier temporaries

Discussion on various provisional materials and provisional cements. Techniques will be reviewed on how to fabricate better provisional restorations, repairing restorations and provisionals for veneers.

  4. Identifying and Correction of Impression Errors

Discuss common impression problems, how to identify them and methods to prevent them.

  5. Direct Resin Restorations: Achieving complex results with simple techniques

Discussion of direct resin restorations and how to create more esthetic anterior and posterior results with simple techniques and materials.

  6. Resin Cementation for posts and fixed prosthetics

Discuss when and how to use self etch resin cements.

“Improving restorative aspects of your practice for better esthetic results”

A half day lecture covering restorative topics.

Lecture highlights:

  1. Provisional Restorations: Techniques for easier temporaries

Discussion on various provisional materials and provisional cements. Techniques will be reviewed on how to fabricate better provisional restorations, repairing restorations and provisionals for veneers.

  2. Identifying and Correction of Impression Errors

Discuss common impression problems, how to identify them and methods to prevent them.

  3. Direct Resin Restorations: Achieving complex results with simple techniques

Discussion of direct resin restorations and how to create more esthetic anterior and posterior results with simple techniques and materials.

  4. Resin Cementation with posts and fixed prosthetics

Discuss when and how to use self etch resin cements.

“Easier techniques for better esthetic results”

A half day lecture with hands-on covering esthetic dentistry. Lecture can accommodate any number of attendees, hands-on will be limited attendance.

  5. Understanding Adhesives

Discussion on total-etch verses self-etch adhesives, how and when to use them for maximum success.

Hands-on (limited attendance) will consist of learning direct resin techniques for anterior and posterior placement.

“Understanding adhesives and how to incorporate new advances in dental materials and techniques into your restorative practice”

There is considerable confusion for the practitioner when discussing total etch verses self etch adhesives and when to best utilize these different types of adhesive techniques. With the introduction of self etch self adhesive flowable composites and cements the confusion has increased. We will review the different types of adhesives and how to best use these to provide better restorations and improve the quality of our dental treatment.

Learning objectives: Upon completion of this lecture the attendees will Understand total etch vs self etch adhesives Understand how and when to use self etch adhesive cements Understand the use of self etch flowable composites and when to use them

Format: 1-2 hour Lecture

“Restorative Soft Tissue Management with the Bident Bipolar Surgical System”

Discussion of the Bident bipolar surgical system for: Troughing, Gingivectomies, Soft tissue crown lengthening, Treatment of passive eruption for improved esthetics, Implant exposure, Fibroma removal and other applications providing a non charred, gentle result with no tissue shrinkage. Soft tissue affects the restorative treatment we render and its management can be a challenge. We will explore methods to achieve more predictable results with less stress.

Format: 2 hours

“Endodontics: Diagnosis to Treatment Through Restoration-Workshop”

Endodontics can be a challenging area of treatment in our practices. But, with the advances in instrumentation and obturation Endodontics can allow us to provide quality care for our patients with little stress to the practitioner. The course will give the participants a good basis of knowledge on Endodontic care starting with how to diagnosis pulpal problems, the use of pre-endodontic buildups to simplify care for those broken down teeth and the importance of coronal leakage to the long term success. Learn improved methods of canal disinfection, instrumentation and obturation with an emphasis on how to avoid perforations and instrument separation.
